What about the Operating Temperature of PET Film?

2024-03-23

PET film has good heat resistance which can withstand high temperatures without melting or deforming under normal working condition. Generally, the physical properties and chemical properties of PET film remains stable during the operating temperature range -40°C ~150°C. The operating temperature of PET film are restricted, to ensure the normal use and performance and achieve maximum utilization.

The melting point of PET film is 250°C, but the physical properties and chemical stability of the PET film will be decreased if in high temperature environment continues to exceed 150°C. It is not recommend to expose PET film at high temperature.

PET film may also be harden or brittle at low temperatures like other plastic foil. Under low temperature environments below -40°C, the toughness and flexibility of PET film will decrease,  which will prone to breakage or damage.

PET film is also sensitive to huge temperature changes. Under rapid temperature changes, PET films may shrink or expand, which will cause dimensional changes or stress concentrations that affect the physical properties and appearance quality.

PET film has broad application prospects in packaging, electronics, construction and other fields. It is highly recommend to consider the matching degree of the heat resistance and application temperature when select and use PET film.
